Introduction

Some years ago, I was privileged to write a daily meditation book for alcoholics and addicts called Say Yes to Life. Published by Health Communications, the book became popular with the recovering community and treatment centers.

Family members came to me and asked if I would be writing a similar book for 'everyone'; people who do not necessarily have an addiction but want to read a positive spiritual message each day. Thanks to this suggestion, I now present to you Say Yes to Your Spirit. Now I realize that when I say I'm writing this book for 'everyone' this is extremely general. However, truth to tell, throughout this book I'm really focused on recovery issues. And it has been my experience that the vast majority of people are recovering from something! I'm trusting that these people will benefit from reading Say Yes to Your Spirit.

Since writing the original book I like to think that I have grown; indeed my understanding of our relationship with God and Spirituality has moved in the direction of our taking responsibility for the life we wish to live. Metaphysical people call this philosophy cocreation.

What does that mean? Well, in a nutshell it suggests that God's Spirit is alive in each and every one of us and our responsibility is to reflect it; manifest the divine. But more than this, cocreation is being actively involved in creating a better, safer, and more accepting world. God not only created us but is divinely involved in his creation; creating us to create.

The template I have used to reflect this philosophy is Dancing in God. When I was originally thinking about this book I had thought the grammatically correct phrase Dancing with God as a description, but it really didn't go far enough. Today I believe that God is not only with me but in me, and me in him. Dancing with God implies separation whereas (poetically speaking) Dancing in God reflects my belief that wherever I am God is . . . and all is well. I am not separate from Divine Energy and this makes me powerful in my dance toward recovery, health, prosperity, and healing.

A constant theme that I heard from my mother, when I was growing up, was 'God helps those who help themselves.' The seeds of cocreation were being sown.
This meditation book challenges us, on a daily basis, to step up to the plate and create a better life, a better world.
